Welcome to the Hudson-Mohawk Weavers Guild

 The Hudson-Mohawk Weavers Guild was formed on April 12 1978, as a support group for hand weavers.  Its chief aim is the bringing together of hand weavers and spinners for sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for the crafts, and to promote weaving as a viable craft through education, demonstrations and exhibitions.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in hand weaving and/or hand spinning.  Our Guild meetings and workshops are held  at the Calvary United Methodist Church, corner of Belle Avenue and Ridge Place, Latham, NY.

Directions:

North of Latham Circle on Route 9, turn east on Cobbee Raod (by Price Chopper), at the flashing light turn right, take the third left on to Belle Avenue-about 1/4 mile you start up a small hill with a left curve-the church is on the left.  Evening meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month (September through May), and begin at 7:30.  Social/refreshment time is from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. 

Evening meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, September through May, and begin at 7:30 p.m.  Refreshments are available starting at 7:00 p.m.  Members may sell yarn and small equipment at the second Chance Table from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.  A 10% fee should be given to the Guild Treasurer.  After a short business meeting, members participate in a show and tell, to which everyone looks forward.   The monthly program then begins.

The HMWG Day Guild meets the 4th Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am. The meeting is held at a  different member's home each month. 

WORKSHOPS: Prominent experts present workshops to the Guild to promote in study of weaving and spinning techniques. 

DEMONSTRATIONS: Guild volunteers donate their time and talents demonstrating at local museums, schools and other non-profit groups.

NEWSLETTER: The Guild newsletter carries the calendar of events for the year and notices about member accomplishments and awards.  It is published four or five times a year.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES: Members participate in volunteer work.

ANNUAL SHOW & SALE: Each year members participate in a show and sale at the Pruyn House in Latham the weekend before Thanksgiving.  The sale features a tremendous variety of handwoven and handspun goodies in addition to fashion shows and demonstrations.

LIBRARY: The library features an extensive collection of fiber related books, videos and magazines.  Members may check out books at the monthly meetings.
